Asian Seared Tofu and Mandarin Orange slaw

Ingredients for Slaw

  • 1 green cabbage sliced thin
  • 1/2 purple cabbage sliced thin
  • 1 can Mandarin oranges with no sugar added
  • 2 C tofu cubed ( I prefer small planet tofu) dry out overnight in a paper towel in between to plates
  • 3 green onion, diced
  • 1/3  C almonds ,sliced 
  • 1 C shredded carrots
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil 
  • Salt/black pepper

In a sauce pan heat sesame oil, sprinkle Chinese 5 Spice on tofu and sear for few min each side. In a large bowl combine cabbage, carrots, almonds, and tofu.  Toss with dressing, add flax seeds , Mandarin oranges, green onion and sesame seeds. 

Dressing

  • 1/2 Tsp. of garlic chili sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce (Bragg's)
  • 1/3 C grape seed oil
  • 1/4 C apple cider vinegar
  • 3 drops ginger essential oil or 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 Tsp chinese 5 spices
  • 1/2 Tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 blood orange, juiced

Whisk all ingredients well and set aside.
